Today, our hearts broke into a million pieces as we read the update on Joey Feek. Her husband, Rory, has a way with words, and can make us all feel like we’re part of this bigger plan and prayer for Joey.
Joey has been places on hospice care, due to the pain being just too much to bare any longer.
Hospice is arranged and a hospital bed will be delivered later this morning. We’ll have a play area on the carpet nearby – close enough for her to watch Indy play, and for Indy to turn and make sure her mama can see her.
Joey is at peace with where she is and where she’s going. So am I.
An answer to prayer.
And that’s really the greatest prayer any of us can pray. Peace. Sure, we can keep praying for a miracle, but really all any of us want is to go in peace when the good Lord calls us up.
Now, Joey is busy preparing for her daughter Indy to live without her.
Later this evening, when it was just Joey and I, Joey read into a couple of ‘recordable’ books to Indiana. The books are gifts from fans and friends that seemed to know how important it is to connect today to tomorrow for our little girl. Joey’s hope is that our little one will be able to sit on my lap in days to come and turn pages and hear her mama reading to her.
It was heartbreakingly beautiful to see and hear.
Dear God, please wrap your loving arms around this family. May we all experience the strength and peace that Joey and Rory have shown us when we are met with life’s great challenges.
