Natalie Stovall and The Drive will release “Miss You The Most”, a song recently written by Stovall and Ruthie Collins in honor of America’s military personnel and families. The song, and accompanying music video, will celebrate its premiere today, only at www.people.com/nataliestovall before going wide on July 4th at https://www.youtube.com/embed/h6Kn0PkYoN8. All proceeds from the sale of “Miss You The Most”, which can be purchased at http://smarturl.it/MIssYouTheMost will go towards the Boot Campaign, an organization dedicated to raising awareness of the unique challenges service members face during and post-service; and providing assistance to military personnel, past and present, and their families.
The song was originally inspired by a sailor, who Stovall met at a show in Djibouti, Africa. “He had gotten married, was immediately deployed, had been gone for over a year and had no idea when he would be back home to see his wife,” said Stovall. “We hear stories like this all the time. The way this young man spoke about his wife was so beautiful that the song basically wrote itself. When I play it, I not only think about this young couple, but of all the men and women that spend way too much time apart from their loved ones and sacrifice so much for the rest of us,” she added.
Established in 2009, the Boot Campaign is dedicated to raising awareness of the unique challenges service members face during and post-service; and providing assistance to military personnel, past and present, and their families. Retail sales of combat boots, apparel and mission-focused merchandise, general public donations and corporate sponsorships fund programs that support military families. These efforts extend to all generations of military personnel who endure significant physical, emotional and circumstantial hardships resulting from their service and sacrifice. Since 2010, the Boot Campaign has given more than $750,000 in veteran housing assistance, $565,000 in wellness, counseling and retreats, $500,000 in urgent financial assistance and awakened more than 50,000 patriots to the challenges facing our active duty and veteran families.
