In Mr. Rather’s interview he asked you why the song Amazing Grace is such a powerful song in the country music community. I would like to suggest an answer. Country music fans are, in general, very grounded in the Christian faith. The Christian faith is based on the humility of believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who, if you believe in him, must be the most humble human who ever lived, for he, having divine personage, took on the form of humanity for the purpose of becoming a sacrifice to redeem humanity. The sacrifice of being humiliated to the torture and death of the cross, where he paid the penalty of sin for all the human race, in which we all are genetically born. Who can fathom the Lord God of the universe becoming a servant to us to provide salvation. It mystifies me still.

Amazing Grace is recognition and worship of him in his humility, through which he became King of Kings and Lord of Lords, providing for us the same power of the Holy Spirit to emulate, as he has granted us the power.

Though few can fathom this simple message, it is simple and understandable, but only through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. That is the power of the song, the power of the Holy Spirit ministering to the soul of anyone who will listen and believe.

    Go in grace.
