There has been tons of controversy surrounding Carrie Underwood’s performance as Maria in “The Sound of Music Live” that aired on Dec. 5.   Most praised her musical performance saying it was her acting that fell flat.

When the original Maria, Julie Andrews, was asked what she thought of Carrie’s performance her response  was what fell a little flat.

Andrews, who starred as Maria in the 1965 Oscar-winning film adaptation of the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic, explained:

‘Alas, I did not [see it]. I had a speaking engagement and I couldn’t. But my kids did record it. I’ll get around to it.’

According to Deadline.com The Sound of Music will re-air on December 14. After a whopping 18.5 million viewers tuned in to the live premiere on December 5 and almost 3 million more watched later on DVR, NBC has decided to resurrect the Rodgers and Hammerstein reboot for an encore airing.

  1. Doreen Mann says:

I guess a lot of people didn’t pay much attention to the fact that this was a remake of the Broadway PLAY not the movie. There is a difference. I would like to see the critics do what Carrie did. She did great and sounded wonderful.
