Man…the debate continues over the state of country music today, and Jason Aldean added fuel to the fire last night when he left a pretty opinionated instagram shot directed towards Zac Brown and his earlier comments on the state of our favorite genre and Luke Bryan’s song “That’s My Kind of Night”.
I think it’s natural for friends to come to another friend’s defense, but Jason may wanna loosen the top button on those jeans and simmer down just a tad. As of right now, Luke hasn’t commented on the debacle, and Zac certainly didn’t attack Luke personally…just the choice in the song.
And, although many may agree or disagree with Zac’s comments (I tend to agree), I don’t think the phrase “nobody gives a shit what you think” truly applies. I mean…it’s pretty much all anyone can talk about, so obviously people do care. Zac may not be selling a half a million albums in a week, but he’s always stayed tried and true to the music and the message he wants to put out into the world. Like I said yesterday, just because it’s popular, doesn’t mean it’s good…. It’s simply a fad, a trend, the latest and coolest thing around…for now.
Those of us who are tried and true country fans just need to cross our fingers that we start getting more “Dirt Road Diaries,” “Favorite Flowers,” and “We Rode in Trucks” from Luke in the future so we can enjoy him for many years to come. Until then, everyone’s certainly entitled to their opinions, but some of us may wanna pop the top button on our snug wranglers before we blow.
