Jennifer Nettles is set to relaunch her solo career with the release of her first single “That Girl” on August 5. A full-length record is expected this fall.
USA Today reporter Brian Mansfield posted on his Facebook page yesterday that he has previewed five tracks from the singer’s project, “That Girl”, which he describes as being “sung from the perspective of Dolly’s Jolene.” The track was co-written with Butch Walker.
Both Jennifer and Kristian Bush are currently working on their on solo music but the duo promises that Sugarland isn’t over.
“We’re just taking time to do things individually, personally and professionally. And we’re super supportive of each other in what we do on both those fronts, personally and professionally,” she told Billboard in May. “With Sugarland it’s been fun to write with Kristian, we go out and play the big shows, play the arenas. I wanted to do something that was just different, you know? That was more intimate and more personal, more organic to me. And definitely speaks to my roots and to where I’m at right now in my life.”
We are excited to hear Jennifer’s single and can’t wait to see what the future holds for Sugarland!
