Ashley Forrest is a brand new country/pop artist with an edge. Earlier this year, the 24-year-old singer finished recording her first full-length album in Nashville, an experience that paired Forrest with Grammy-nominated Country music producer Mark Moffatt. Under Moffatt’s expert direction, and armed with a collection of songs from some of Music City’s finest songwriters, the resulting album turned out much like Ashley herself: polished, poised, and with just the right amount of attitude and mischief for good measure! The material may be rooted in traditional Country instrumentation, with dobro, banjo and mandolin throughout, but the production puts a glossy, Pop spin on the finished product. The striking young artist from Crofton, Maryland, originally had her sights set on a career as a college chorus teacher, but just couldn’t shake the allure of performing. A brief stint working at a local Baltimore area radio station changed her mind and her career direction once and for all. Unquestionably, she made the right decision.
Meet New & Noteworthy Artist Ashley Forrest
Current Project: ‘Seven Hundred Miles’. I am so proud of this project! Having this CD be my first CD ever released, I definitely wanted it to represent me as a person and as an artist. I have four original songs that I wrote myself, as well as six songs written by other famous writers in Nashville. All the songs are a little piece of me and tell a story about something that happened in my life and are very relatable to all ages. I have a lot of feel good modern Pop-Country songs that everyone can jam out and have fun to as well! My inspiration behind ‘Seven Hundred Miles’ is my passion for country music and my fans. I love bringing happiness and smiles to people’s faces. Each song on the album is my favorite for different reasons, but the song that resonates closest to my heart is ‘I’ll Be’. I wrote this song for my pop pop after he passed away and I know he’s still here guiding me and watching me achieve my dreams.
Musical Influences: My musical influences are Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and Brad Paisley. Carrie for her powerful ballads, Miranda for her down home country songs, and Brad for his fun feel good cheeky songs.
Personal Influences: My family is my personal influence. They give me so much love and support and give me the strength and courage to follow my dreams. My brother Ryan also was my acoustic accompaniment for years and helped me engineer the recording equipment when I wrote my songs and recorded them at home before I sent them to Nashville. Ryan definitely influenced me and helped me in anyway he could. He’s the best brother ever!
Music Sounds Like: If I had to sum up my music in a few words it would be that my music is emotional. Every song makes people feel something, whether it be happiness or sadness I have it on my CD. ‘Seven Hundred Miles’ brings out all different kinds of emotions, which makes it a very powerful album. My style is country with a Pop edge.
Why You Should Be Listening: People should be listening to me because I stand for believing in yourself and self worth. Nothing is impossible and follow your dreams! Never let anyone bring you down or tell you that you can’t do something.
I am so excited about having my CD release party on May 19th at Rams Head on Stage in Annapolis, Maryland in my hometown! It’s going to be such a fun time and I am so honored to be playing at such a world-renowned venue! As for the future, one of my personal goals and dream is to sing at the Grand Ole Opry and to be on tour all across the world! The sky is the limit!
