The bassist and band leader for country superstar Toby Keith was killed Wednesday night in a car crash in Slaughterville, Ok, according to a KOCO.com report.
Carl “Chuck” Goff Jr., part of Toby Keith’s band for more than a quarter century, was killed in the wreck. The other driver was not injured, and the accident remains under investigation.
In addition to being bandleader and bassist for Keith, Goff also co wrote two of Toby’s best known tracks, “Upstairs Downtown” and “You Ain’t Much Fun”.
Toby Keith released the following statement of his website Thursday:
We are deeply saddened by the sudden death of our band member, Chuck Goff. He was a close friend for over 25 years, the band leader and bass player. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family.
