This past week, country radio bombarded downtown Nashville for the annual Country Radio Seminar. Broadcasters and industry folk flocked to Music City for information and entertainment. Since many of these folks have never had an opportunity to see the legendary Opry show in person, it seemed like a good a time as any to change that. The Grand Ole Opry set-up shot in the convention center to give out-of-towners a taste of what they’ve been missing.
Vince Gill hosted the special edition of the Opry. The stellar line-up included Little Big Town, Scotty McCreery, Kacey Musgraves, Darius Rucker, Dustin Lynch, Greg Bates, Josh Turner and Brad Paisley. Each act performed two songs between “commercial” breaks, except for surprise guests “Scarlet” and “Gunnar” from ABC’s “Nashville,” who performed just a single song.
Vince’s sense of humor was in full swing during the 2-hour set, joking with the audience and fellow artists. He even called a person on stage who wasn’t afraid to dish it back to him.
