Flatt Lonesome Bursts Onto the Bluegrass Scene — New Album Review

Flatt Lonesome

Fresh new group Flatt Lonesome exploded onto the bluegrass scene with their debut self-titled album on Pisgah Ridge Records. The group consists of 3 siblings along with 3 friends that all share a passion for playing and writing music. The album was released January 29th and features great musicianship, and a unique mix of songs.

Bluegrass music is known for having incredible instrumentals, and stellar harmonies. Flatt Lonesome lives up to this standard and at times even exceeds it. The band members are young and seem to bring a new energy to classic sounds. The album has 11 songs with a mix of traditional bluegrass, to gospel tinged tunes, all the way to fun country covers like the classic “Jackson” and Little Big Town’s hit “ Boondocks.” A few other standout songs are the toe tapping “Just Any Moment” and the harmony filled “My Favorite Memory.”

If you love bluegrass music and other bluegrass bands such as the Grascals, you will enjoy this exciting debut album from Flatt Lonesome. They are a talented new group that will surely be one to watch in the bluegrass circuit. Be sure to check out their self-titled debut album that is available now on iTunes.
