Natalie Maines of The Dixie Chicks is releasing her first solo record. Natalie will release “Mother” on May 7. The title track is a cover of the Pink Floyd song “Mother,” and that’s a clue to the sound of the album.
Maines says it’s very different music from The Dixie Chicks and it has more of a rock edge. Singer-songwriter Ben Harper co-produced the album. One of the songs, on “Come Cryin’ to Me,” was co-written with fellow Dixie Chicks Martie Maguire and Emily Robison. Maines says they wrote that song for their “Taking the Long Way” album but it was too rock.
Will you check out Natalie’s solo record this May? Does anyone else miss The Dixie Chicks?? I know it can’t just be me…..
