Crystal Bowersox will play Patsy Cline on Broadway. The website for the musical “Always…Patsy Cline” says Bowersox will take over the title role beginning this summer.
Always….Patsy Cline comes to Broadway this summer with a life-imitates-art twist. Patsy’s legendary career took off at age 25 on the Arthur Godfrey Show in 1957, when she won his nationally televised talent show. And now, Crystal Bowersox, whose career took off as an American Idol finalist (also at age 25) takes the title role in this musical 50 years after Patsy’s tragic death in a plane crash.
The production focuses on Cline’s friendship with devoted fan Louise Seger.
