Taylor Swift TOO Pop??

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift has been a crossover success since she first entered the scene with “Tim McGraw.” However, her current single, “I Knew You Were Trouble” has kept it’s top spot on the pop charts for nearly three weeks, while experiencing moderate success on country radio.  All the while, her single “Begin Again” has held a spot in the top ten for seven weeks on the Media Base Country Charts.

Her success on pop radio has made many nay-sayers question the depth of her country roots…Wondering if they grow whatever way the successful winds blow.

“I’ve been called not country enough since my first album. So, it’s kind of a criticism I’m really used to at this point. And people, you know, like every time I put out a song, there’s always someone saying, ‘It’s too something.’ ‘It’s too pop.’ ‘It’s too rock.’ ‘It’s too bluegrass.’ I’d rather be ‘too something,’ than ‘not enough something.’”

I say, country isn’t what it use to be. Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, and Keith Urban have all enjoyed crossover success. Either way, the further you throw the net, the more fish you catch to bring home with ya. And Taylor’s home is in Nashville, Tennessee.

You can see Taylor kick-off the Grammy’s this Sunday!

WELL—-My friends and I are college students (younger than Taylor) and we (and most of the students on campus) have not thought Taylor was country since her first album. We all have thought that she has used us fans (we were fans back then) and the country music industry to get into the pop genre. We resent being used that way. TODAY—-ALL of us KNOW that she is 100% POP. We don’t understand why some people still call her country and she gets country awards. All of us young people know what is pop and what is country and she definitely is NOT country. She sold out for fame and Hollywood. She disgusts us now and we will never buy her music or go to her concerts. We are not young teens and impressionable now. Her video of We Are Never Getting Back Together is a kid’s romper room act. So tired of the boy bashing too. She needs to take a LONG HARD look at herself and her life.
