Although he just rounded the corner of his 74th birthday, two-time Grammy Award winning musical comedy master Ray Stevens is bringing laughter into the homes of viewers each week with his new national television show “Ray-ality TV.”
Stevens brings “Ray-ality TV,” a weekly 30-minute comedy show with unique music and humor from beginning to end, to the newly relaunched TNN (The Nashville Network). The show airs on Sunday nights at 9:00 PM Eastern / 8:00 PM Central.
“’Ray-ality’ is a presentation of all the movie, video and TV appearances that have made up my ‘reality’ for the past several years along with excerpts from my stage performances, TV pilots and new comedy material that is shot expressly for the series,” notes Stevens. “We just pick a subject title like ‘chickens’ and away we go! We use what we’ve done in the past, what we are currently doing or whatever pops into our heads at the time to put together 30 minutes of music and comedy for the whole family. That is what I do after all.”
The best of Ray Stevens is brought to viewers each week on classic country’s TV home, TNN, and the first year of “Ray-ality TV” will include 26 episodes with appearances from many familiar faces. Stevens produces the show along with his in-house staff that has been with him through the award-winning video and stage productions for the last several years.
“I guess you could say that I’ve been preparing for my TNN musical / comedy show ‘Ray-ality TV’ my whole career because we use bits and pieces of almost everything I’ve ever done in front of a camera, along with all the new stuff, to stitch together a pretty interesting quilt of a show,” says Stevens. “’Ray-ality TV’ is hard to describe but then so is my career. You’ll just have to watch it and see for yourself.”
TNN Vice President, Lorianne Crook notes,
“As an interviewer I have tried many times to understand the creative mind of the great Ray Stevens. Now it’s clear that even he doesn’t understand it! But all that matters is that he is a superb entertainer and an intelligent man who makes us laugh and think!”
Episodes of “Ray-ality TV” are airing now. For more information on “Ray-ality TV,” visit Ray Stevens’ official website, www.raystevens.com.
