2012 was an exciting year in country music. There were big tours, great albums, Opry inductions, tons of fan fun at CMA Fest, stars getting hitched and having babies and much more! With such a big year 2013 surely has some big boots to fill, but we think there is a ton to get excited about. We have compiled a list of 13 things we are looking forward to in the year 2013. These are just some highlights, but we know there is more. Take a look at our list and then let us know what else you are looking forward to in 2013.
Here they are in no particular order…
1. Little Big Town’s “Tornado” Tour
Last year proved to any doubters that this group is a huge force in country music. The “Pontoon” singers are hitting the road as headliners for their “Tornado” tour bringing their amazing harmonies to cities across the country. David Nail and Kacey Musgraves will be joining them on select dates. This tour is surely one that is going to dominate 2013. The fun starts January 31st in Murray, KY.
Let’s face it, us country fans get beyond excited when our favorite artists release new music. It is like Christmas in July. This year is already shaping up to be one that delivers when it comes to album releases. Leann Rimes, Tim McGraw, Darius Rucker, Randy Houser, Gary Allan, Ashley Monroe, Kris Kristofferson, Rodney Crowell & Emmylou Harris, and many more are already slated to release new projects in 2013!
Every summer fans file into Music City for the ultimate fan experience and 2013 will be no exception! With big shows at LP Field, free concerts by the river and so much more it is a country lovers dream! This year it takes place June 6-9 in Nashville, TN!
4. Luke Bryan’s first headlining tour with “Dirt Road Diaries”
There is no denying that Luke can energize a crowd like no other and we think this tour is one to get excited about! He will also be bringing along Thompson Square and Florida Georgia Line to join in the fun! It all kicks off in Evansville, IN January 17th.
5. Keith Urban Takes a Turn in the American Idol Judges Chair
The drama has been building for a while now and we are finally in the home stretch. We get to watch Keith Urban sit beside the dueling divas and Randy Jackson to hopefully find us the next Carrie Underwood! Tune in January 16th and 17th for the premiere.
6. Country Music dominating at upcoming award shows
It has been exciting to see country artists getting nominated for a TON of upcoming awards shows! As 2013 rolls in so do the Grammys, the Golden Globes and The People’s Choice Awards! All of which include nominations or performances by some of your favorite country artists such as Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley and MANY more!
Don’t miss out…
- The People’s Choice Awards: January 9th
- The Golden Globes: January 13th
- The Grammys: February 10th
7. George Strait Begins his “Cowboy Rides Away” Tour with Martina McBride
The king of country is getting ready to hang up his hat, but not without a grand farewell. The “Cowboy Rides Away” tour will take place in 2013 and next year as well. There is no denying George is a living legend with a slew of hits. This tour marks the end of era in country music and will surely be one for the history books.
“Nashville” has hooked us and drawn us in to all its dysfunction. We can’t wait to see what else transpires for Juliette and Reyna in 2013. We are also excited to hear more original music from the show!
Blake brings a certain charm to the show that is undeniable. He uses his wit and charisma to win over the contestants, his fellow judges and the fans. “The Voice” returns with a slightly different crew adding Shakira and Usher to replace Christina and Cee-Lo, but our fun loving country boy will still be there to entertain us! “The Voice” Season 4 starts March 25th
Last year we saw Keith Urban and Darius Rucker join the Opry. There is nothing like seeing the artist’s reaction to that prestigious invitation. We can’t wait to see who will get asked to join this year!
Every year country music sees a few artists emerge and grab the fans attention. 2012 saw “Cruise” singers Florida-Georgia Line become a household name in country music! Keep an eye on Kacey Musgraves, Parmalee, Thomas Rhett and, just to name a few! While these artists have all had success in 2012, we think 2013 might be their biggest year yet.
As superstar Garth Brooks made his November 2012 exit from Sin City, new country blood has taken over the town. The “It’s Your Love” husband/wife duo Tim and Faith’s show at the Venetian and Shania’s show at Caesar’s Palace will be dazzling country fans all year. The shows have already made their debut, but a bulk of the dates will take place in 2013 and we are excited to start hearing the reviews from all the fans!
13.The news of 2013’s Country Music Hall of Fame’s Inductees
There would be no Carrie Underwood without Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton and there would be no Luke Bryan without Faron Young and Conway Twitty. We must honor and remember those who paved the way for the current country artists. Each year the Country Music Hall of Fame inducts new members to pay tribute to all they have done for the music. We are excited to see who will get that honor in 2013.
