Next week, CMT will reveal their picks for Artist of the Year, but the star-studded night will include performances from THE BIGGEST stars in Country Music. Any one of them could easily earn the honor. Eric Church will be performing during the show which will be taped Monday evening in Nashville.
Eric Church crept onto the music scene in 2005 from his hometown of Granite Falls, North Carolina. The singer/songwriter was determined to do things his own way, which made for a slow start but also gave him a very passionate fan base. After his first album, Sinners Like Me released, it would be 6 years and two more albums before Eric had the joy of a No. 1 song. But that didn’t mean he didn’t find success. Carolina had given Eric the momentum to be heard by the masses.
Finally, in 2011, Eric released the critically acclaimed Chief. In 2012 “A Drink in My Hand” became Eric’s very first No. 1 single and was followed immediately by his second No. 1 song “Springsteen.” Chief had brought Eric the respect and adoration he had worked so hard for and putting a CMA Album of the Year trophy on his mantle.
It’s been a long road to the top for Eric Church, and 2012 has certainly been a milestone in his career. Could his CMT Artist of the Year performance turn into another trophy? Watch Saturday, December 8th at 10/9C to find out.
