Yahoo has the first listen to Keith Urban‘s new song “For You” from the Act of Valor soundtrack. The song is a first for Keith, since he’s never written a song with a purpose of being in a movie before.
“I was drawn to a scene in the film where you witness an act of supreme self-sacrifice. And I thought to myself, I see what they believe in. I see what they live their life for.”
“Now, what do I believe in? What am I willing to give my life to? So from there, my co-writer and I set about writing the song.”
“For me, the challenge was in writing something that was uplifting and yet sensitive to the film,” he explained. “Particularly the final scene.”
You can listen to the song here. I think “For You” is right on, and I think the men and women who serve in our military will think so too.

I can’t tell you how many times I have listened to this song already. Being a military wife for over 20 years, I can tell you that Keith and Monty Powell wrote the perfect song – Keith sang it so emotionally (the sighs…)and played it so intensely in a way that brought tears to my eyes each time I clicked “play”. I love it. Maybe this song will help people better understand what a military man in war goes through each and every day. Thanks so much for posting it.
I agree with everyone here. ‘For You’ is quite an amazing song…awesome lyrics and the guitar is killer! Sounds like another hit to me. Keith sure knows how to write them!!

Well, Keith has done it again! What a powerful song. It makes me want to run out and see the movie as soon as it comes out. Keith has the unique ability to put himself in others’ shoes and write from such a different perspective. I hope to hear this wonderful song on the radio very soon!
Beautiful song! It gave me chills when I first heard it. Keith and Monty are amazing songwriters. The lyrics, the guitar solo, and esp the guitar outro in combination with the string arrangement is powerful and amazing! Another hit for sure!
Everytime I Listen to Keith Urban’s “For You” it gives me goosebumps..Keith is such a brilliant songwriter, guitarist and all around entertainer..this just proves another reason Keith urban should be named Entertainer of the Year.
