It’s been a tough few months for Steel Magnolia. Josh Scott Jones was forced to pull out of the Reba tour in September and entered rehab. While Meghan Linsey continued on with James Otto filling in.
Since then we have heard rumors that Mehan and Josh were on the outs and no longer living together. A source has pointed out to CMTT that if you follow the pair on Twitter the signs point to a personal break up.
Since Josh got out of rehab, he and Meghan have been encouraging fans to follow their individual Twitter accounts. Josh tweeted that his roommate’s yappy dog was driving him crazy. Roommate? I thought him and Meg were engaged and living together? And you know how James Otto filled in for Josh on the Reba tour? Well, Meghan tweeted that she was heading into the recording studio with James!
Although there is no confirmation of the breakup The Boot is reporting that their March 24 Steel Magnolia show at Greeneville, Tennessee’s Niswonger Performing Arts Center has been canceled, with the venue’s director claiming a breakup is to blame.
“It is our understanding that the duo is no longer performing together,” reports NPAC Executive Director Darrell Bryan. “We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause our patrons.”
The Boot has also confirmed Steel Magnolia are no longer with their label Big Machine Records. Were sorry to hear about all of this Steel Magnolia made great music together!

Wow, hate to be such a complainer – but you really need to give credit where credit is due. I was disappointed that you led your readers to The Boot, who posted this article on Jan. 18, 2012 – when Country’s Chatter (which has been up and running since Feb. 8, 2008), had it posted on Jan. 13, 2012.
I’m glad you posted the article, and I’m glad The Boot did. Steel Magnolia fans need to know what’s going on with this talented duo; and hopefully still ‘couple.’
I enjoy reading all country music blogs, but was really a little disappointed when you didn’t direct readers to Country’s Chatter as well as to The Boot.
Thanks for letting me have my moment to complain – keep up the good work with Country Music Tattle Tale.

I had no idea that Country’s Chatter had posted the information about the cancelled show. If I had found the info there I would have def. linked to it. We receive tons of emails, press releases, leads and story ideas for articles. We normally don’t go strolling the web to find them.
News and information pops up everywhere on the internet and there is really no possible way for me to ever trace the exact point where the news came from. We do our best and will always credit the source we found our information from.
The real news from The Boot article was the exclusive comment they received from Big Machine today confirming that Steel Magnolia is no longer with the label. This is what caught my eye today that made me post the news.
I wondered for a little if Josh and Meghan broke up because I noticed quite the chatty back and forth between Cheyenne Kimball and Josh on Twitter.
Saw Steel Magnolia 6 times and then Meghan 22 more during 2011.. I have to say whatever happens they have bright futures ahead.. Meghan is an amazing singer and songwriter, and just an absolutely incredible person!! My support goes fully to Meghan Linsey!! Meghan worked her but off every night and was there for us fans!!! She is the sweetest person I have ever met in my life. She has an incredible voice and is soo appreciative of everything. She loves her fans very much and loves singing. We went to 27 shows these past few months. Let me tell you something. Meghan Linsey is the most amazing person out there. Any one that wants question her or put her down needs to grow up!! She worked her butt every night!!!!!! Even as Steel Magnolia she never got the credit she deserved. She’s a true inspiration and has touched many lives. People need to quit about this CRAP about did Meghan enjoy the Reba tour soo much that she wants to perform with James instead of Josh. Really???? Be considerate of Meghan’s and Josh’s feelings and be considerate of their fans feelings too!!!!!!!!!!! People need to respect their privacy during this time. There are many hearts involved in all of this. My prayers go out to them and their families and friends and other fans during this time. If you don’t know what you’re talking about – you need to stay out of it.
To me Meghan couldn’t have picked a better person to fill in for Josh last fall, I love James Otto SO much!!! (big smile)
