Listen to Marlee Scott’s new single “Train Wreck”
Marlee Scott may not be a name you have heard a lot on the radio, but I sense that may change. Born in Ontario, Canada this determined musician knew from an early age singing was her destiny. After hearing Alabama on the radio she reconnected with her roots and knew country was the direction to point her career. In 2005 she released her first album in Canada and in 2007 she said so long to home and headed south to Nashville.
Marlee has enjoyed some great success with her music in Canada, winning awards and even having a top 20 hit. Additionally she has a sophomore album and some singles available now on iTunes. However, it certainly seems Marlee and her label Bigride entertainment know she is ready to take the U.S. by storm. Her new single, “Train Wreck,” may do just that. It has attitude, style, a contagious beat and country music Hall of Famer Vince Gill singing back up. What could be better? Vince is known for making guest appearances on numerous albums in various genres and his tone certainly pairs well with Marlee’s. The song is about a guy who is dating a girl that is all wrong for him. One part of the chorus describes it best saying, “She’s a train wreck, she’s a noose around your neck.” The end of the song even features Marlee trying her hand at a little “rap” which actually works quite well and adds a fun quirkiness to the song.
I have listened to the song several times and it is absolutely something I can hear getting a lot of radio play. Marlee is already very successful in her hometown, but I think this new single will have country listeners everywhere singing along. Marlee has a strong voice and you can hear her conviction and personality when she sings. I feel that 2012 may be a big year for this rising star. The single is expected to hit radio January 23rd.
