Not to take away from the severity of the issue, but Amber Alerts are for missing children ages 17 and younger. Holly is a 20 year college student. She was abducted from her home on Wednesday morning at around 7:30 am by a man dressed in camouflaged clothing. She was last seen by a relative being dragged into a wooded area near her home by her abductor and she was wearing a pink shirt and light blue jeans. If you have any info please contact the local authorities and/or the FBI.

    Bob,
It’s my understanding the term is being used loosely in a lot of cases, as of this comment, there are no currently active Amber Alerts for Holly. You are correct about the 17 and under, and what has been issued is a Missing Persons Alert for her instead by the TBI (Tennessee Bureau of Investigations).

The reason for the 17 and under is to prevent over use of the Amber Alert. However, at the same time, being a parent myself, if my 20 year child who is still a student and living with me was dragged from my home, I would want as much awareness about it raised as possible.

    Jean,

As I said at the opening of the comment, I was not trying to take away from the severity of the situation. Holly is someone’s child and I am sure that her parents are completely distraught over the situation and want nothing more than her safe return.

I was simply pointing out the fact that she is not under the age of 17 therefore an Amber Alert does not apply in this case. As far as bringing about as much awareness to the situation as possible I whole-heartedly agree. This is why I added the basic info about the case that was missing in the original article.

I can’t believe how stupid people reply in case of life and death cases!!!
Amber Alert is for children and even though she is 17, if you want to make this a legal case, SHUT UP! We must pray and use any medium to find cousin Holly. Show a little compassion!
