For over three decades, Middle Tennessee residents were kept company on their morning commutes by funny-man Gerry House and the laughing Mike Bohan on WSIX. Today, Gerry and Mike announced that “The House Foundation” would air it’s last show on December 15th.
“The reason I’m doing it, and I’ve said this before, is that every 20 or 30 years, I like to shake things and do something different… just bust out and try something different,” Gerry said. “The management here has been fabulous. No one is mad at anybody…sometimes it just feels right.”
We will miss Gerry and Mike. In fact, there was a giant lump in my throat as I listened to Gerry’s announcement this morning. The guys have become like old friends to so many listeners, bringing laughs and a little bit of stress relief in rough morning traffic. I’m willing to bet many artists will miss talking to Gerry in the mornings also…Listening to his interviews were like listening to friends catch-up on life…
We will miss you Gerry and Mike!! We wish you the best of luck, and maybe we’ll catch you on the air again someday. The airwaves won’t be the same without you.

Gerry I’ll miss you on air and I am one of your #8 listener’s,but laying all jokes aside you will be missed because you could make my bad day starting out become a better one just listening to your funny remarks & Mikes as well.I wish you both the very best and take care and enjoy life to fullest.
I could not believe it. Nashville will never be the same without Gerry House.
Gerry and Mike,
You will both be missed by all that have had the honor to share our mornings with you. You have been blessed to have had a carrer you love. It shows very much that you love your job by the way it is so easy for you guys to do what you do and by how easy it is for us listeners to get total involved in the moment of the conversations. I have to admit Im a bit envious though. I too look forward to the day when I can be the early group on the first tee and enjoy the company of my closest friends. Hope retirement brings you many blessings.
Gerry,
You may or may not remember me, but I was Dolly’s assistant for 21 years. It breaks my heart that you are leaving WSIX. You are the REASON I listen to that station. Your charming and craaaaaaazy sens of humor makes my mornings!!
I just nominated you to co-host with Kelly on “Regis & Kelly”.
I hope that they pick you and that you do the show!!!!
I am officially one of your “8″ official fans!!
Thanks for making my day for many years!!
