Brooks & Dunn – The Last and Final Rodeo Show

Last night marked an important date in country music.  It was the final show of the most awarded duo in country music history, Brooks & Dunn.

The show was surrounded with a lot of buzz and emotion.  This was the final time fans would get to hear favorites like, My Maria, Boot Scootin Boogie and Hard Working Man sang live ever again.

Tyler Dickerson opened the show and played 6 songs for an audience that was rip roaring and ready to go.

There was no huge burst of fireworks, lights or inflatables that launched when Ronnie and Kix walked out on stage.  They took the stage just as they had in every other show  in the previous 20 years.

The hour in a half show was filled with fan favorites and moments of sincerity.  And every time they would start to play a song I couldn’t help but think it would be the last time I would ever hear it sang that way.

The finale was just that a finale.  No tears, little emotion and a farewell to two men who blessed country music with great music.

Tawny and I both walked away with a feeling of disappointment.  No big hugs or high fives.  If we hadn’t known it was the last ever show you would have thought they were headed to the next city.

After talking with many of our friends it seems that everyone walked away from the show with their own take of Brooks and Dunn’s farewell.   Some said that was the way they wanted it.  To leave just the same way it started, quite and humble.  Others said their show last night reminded them of their very first Brooks and Dunn show.  And others said they were simply elated to be there to witness and celebrate their favorite country music artists’ farewell.

No matter how you left the show feeling last night everyone who was there knows they witnessed a special event and know that country music will never be the same again.  There will never be another Brooks and Dunn…..thanks for the ride boys.
