Merle Haggard Has Advice For Lindsay Lohan

Merle Haggard knows what it’s like to be an inmate. He did time in the 1950s. Lindsay Lohan could have learned how to get along on the inside, if she had access to his Vanity Fair interview while in jail.

Merle tells the magazine “she has to be honest, and she has to let the other prisoners know that she doesn’t feel like she’s any better than they are.”  He also says when he was in San Quentin, he paid attention the whole time and made sure he didn’t borrow anything from anybody. He says if he told somebody he’d meet them on a Tuesday, that’s what he did. Merle admists he “learned that it’s better to be honest, because you can’t get away from your lie.”
