CMA Fest Day 3

Thanks to Chevy for sponsoring our trip to CMA Fest, CMTT is able to bring you all the scoop from the 2010 CMA Music Festival.  Saturday was day 3 of Nashville’s Biggest Party, and we decided to head on down to Fan Fair Hall.  Saturday was a big day in the Hall.  Rascal Flatts was signing for the first time in years along with a special short acoustic set.  Then we headed over to meet Mindy McCready.  She looked FANTASTIC!  I’m hoping she is indeed getting her act together, because I’d like to see her make a comback.

Saturday night at LP Field was also a doosey.  Easton Corbin made his LP Field debut, and what a fine job he did.  It was obvious that he was absolutely thrilled to be there, and the crowd appeared to love him!  Randy Houser also got everyone up on their feet with “Boots On” and “Anything Goes”…oh, and let’s not forget that contagious laugh. Billy Currington also performed, getting people pumped with his massive hit “People Are Crazy,” along with “Good at Drinking Beer,” “Don’t,” and “Must Be Doing Something Right.”

Last year, Zac Brown Band was a crowd favorite…keeping the stadium on their feet and excited the entire set.  However, this year…although they were good; Zac Brown Band failed to deliver quite the same reaction.  They opened strong with “Toes” but then failed to ever play “Chicken Fried” or their amazing cover of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”  Instead they opted for “Free” which is a beautiful song, but mixed with the other unknown song, failed to give-us the energy boost we needed to keep up in the heat.

My favorite of the night…and maybe possibly the weekend was Martina McBride. I seem to always forget how amazing she is.  Martina kicked-off the night with “Wrong Baby Wrong” then sang “This One’s for the Girls,” “Anyway,” “Broken Wing,” and “Independence Day.”  She got a MASSIVE standing ovation for “Broken Wing.” She never fails to produce chill bumps.

Rascal Flatts was the big deal of the evening.  Even though their set was interrupted with fireworks, the guys kept truckin on singing several  hits like “Life is a Highway,” “Here Comes Goodbye,” “Bob that Head,” and more.

Day 3 was a scorcher!  Litterally over 100 degrees, but fans still came out in droves to hear some great music and celebrate Nashville’s return!
