Colt Ford is not a country rapper. He’s a country artist who happens to rap. Colt says he’s “like a bowl of jambalaya with country as the main ingredient.”
He says he puts in rock, southern rock, hip-hop and R-and-B — and that’s not an unusual combination. He says in any little rural town kids are driving “trucks with their dip can in their pocket, and they’ve got a Jamey Johnson CD and a Lil Wayne CD in their truck.” “They have to put it in some sort of category and I tell them all the time: I’m a country artist. You figure it out on your own.”
