Carrie Underwood Launches Flood Relief Fund

Carrie Underwood is launching the Temporary Home fund along with ACM Lifting Lives to help flood victims.

Carrie is using grants she would receive as the reigning Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year for the fund.   Lifting Lives is donating money from the taping of “ACM Presents: Brooks & Dunn — The Last Rodeo” tribute special that airs Sunday on CBS.

Starting today, people can donate $10 by texting “ACM” to 501051.   Carrie has also taped a public service announcement that will air during the Brooks & Dunn special.

Donations also can be made at www.ACMliftinglives.org and www.CBS.com/give.

This is one of the many things I admire about Carrie. She is ALWAYS giving back. I feel sorry for the people in Nashville that lost everything and did not have flood insurance to cover it. My family has donated to the Red Cross, Matthew 24 emergency services and we will give to this also. Like Carrie sings in her song “Change”—the smallest thing can make all the difference–and if we all pitch in—maybe we can make people’s lives better.AND just maybe if we continue to do it –it would make the world a better place for all of us. We give to the Red Cross because there are so many people in other states that are having tough times with floods, tornadoes, etc. and the Red Cross helps everyone.

I didn’t know the entertainer of the year was awarded grants. I remember last year Carrie dontated instruments to her hometown in Oklahoma and now she’s doing this – very impressive. I do wonder what others have done with their grants and why we never hear about anything else. Oh well. I’m very glad Carrie is doing something and I also believe that the small things can make a big difference. It’s nice to see Carrie taking the song to heart and doing so much with it. First CNN Hero’s and the song was perfect for that show. Then Idol Gives Back and her announcement that 36 cents from each ticket sold during the Fall leg of her tour would go to help children in America – very nice. Pedigree comes to mind also because to be honest, I never knew there was such a big problem with pets as I’ve never owned one. Her song Change fits that endeavor because a little awareness will go a long way for the animals. And now the temporary home fund, a small amount of money from many will benefit so many people in need. It’s very impressive that Carrie can accomplish so many things that flow back to one incredible song. Good for her!!!!
