The Show Must Go On…CMA Fest Held as Planned

With all the flooding woes in Nashville, many wondered will the show indeed go on? Probably the biggest concern was CMA Fest, expected to take place the 2nd week of June. The water hasn’t receeded yet, and I personally couldn’t imagine the city being ready to host a 50,000+ person event in its streets and stadiums…But, it’s official…the show will indeed go on.

From Steve Moore, Chairman of the CMA Board of Directors

“We have had a lot of inquires about the status of 2010 CMA Music Festival after the devastating flood that hit Nashville over the weekend. Our first thoughts and prayers are with the people of Middle and West Tennessee who have endured so much tragedy and heartache during these last few days. CMA Music Festival is Nashville’s signature music event, which brings in more than $22 million in direct visitor spending to the City each year and supports music education in Metro Nashville public schools. We have every intention of holding the event as planned June 10-13 in downtown Nashville. We cannot think of a better way to help our local economy at this time of great need than to continue the 39-year tradition of CMA Music Festival.”

I’m sure it will be a much different CMA Fest this year than we’re all used to. Opryland Hotel and the Grand Ole Opry won’t be part of the festivities…who knows what the state of LP Field and Riverfront Park will be. I can tell you, everyone who comes to CMA Fest LOVES Nashville…and what better way to assist in the recovery process than to support the city you love when it’s down.
