Lovely voice, but prefer the Brooks and Dunn rendition.
Just watched this on CBS and I’m still crying just like everyone else in the crowd. What a wonderful way to honor this AMAZING SONG!
Oh My Gosh… I absolutely loved it. She gave me chill bumps just knowing that she had that tragic accident happen to her sister and nephew and mother. You know the words of the song were coming from a place she could relate to which made it so emotional. I hope they make it available to download on itunes
Cindy…. I got chills too! I just saw the band at the Houston Rodeo and I cried like a BABY when they sang this. The people next to me told me”There is NO CRYING at the Rodeo” I just could not help myself. I think she did a lovely job and watching Ronnie tear up made me cry more!
I agree with Irene – like the Brooks and Dunn version more. And it’s “asked” not “aksed”.
Jennifer Hudson SUCKED doing “Believe”!! She should never have touched this song, unless she could manage to at least sound like she was singing it! This was absolutely the most horrible “performance” of the night! Sugarland’s rendition of “Red Dirt Road” was terrible too … I still love them but, they should have kept the originality of Brooks And Dunn’s song, not tried to “make it their own”. Darius Ruck, Lady A, Faith, Tim, Reba and Rascal Flatts ROCKED THE HOUSE, while Taylor Swift looked a bit ridiculous, but sounded good. She just tries too hard – unflattering. There’s my take of the show. All in all, it was a FANTASTIC tribute – especially the eel! LOL!
To Terri:(,
Im sure you could have done a better job than Jennifer….don’t count on it! She did an excellent job and if it were not for her I probably would not have watched the show & glad I did, as it opened up my mind to “country music”…she is a great singer, actress, and I FELT HER EMOTIONS IN THE SONG AND had to get the kleenex cause she put it down….obviously you have never lost a loved on but Maybe one day you will never have to experience the same lyrics she sung about & what Brooks & Dunn had written. Too Bad you feel that way I guess that how a person is that is closed minded & in the closet….about other music.
GREAT JOB JENNIFER….I FELT THE SONG, IT WAS GREAT….ME & MY BOYFRIEND WERE SPEECHLESS AND PUT A GREAT ENDING TO OUR WONDERFUL WEEKEND…..
Best of Luck Jennifer in all of your future endeavors….small & large!
Congratulations Brooks & Dunn! WELL DONE….!!!!!!!! IM VERY IMPRESSED
I was totally blown away when I heard Jennifer sing Believe on the Brooks & Dunn tribute show. She brought tears to my eyes. Jennifer is going a long way and has just started her career. Great job Jennifer! What a great song. We will all miss the duo Brooks & Dunn.
@Aprile … that’s wonderful. I’m glad you liked it. I bet I could have made the song sound a WHOLE lot more COUNTRY, like it’s supposed to. I don’t care what anyone else thinks about it, really. To each his own but, I think she was awful. Nobody will change my opinion – they should have gotten a country singer to sing it, just like they did all the other songs, then it would have sounded right. Jennifer Hudson may be a great singer in other realms, but not in country music … sorry. AND … get it right, girl … I bet YOU have never had to bury two of your own children (4 months apart), an Uncle and a brother, the four of them in a period of a year and 2 days!! I DID!! Plus my Mother, and 2 Aunts, along with several others, including 2 who were MURDERED … don’t judge because you have NO idea! I have had more tragedy in my life than most people have … including Jennifer Hudson! She still sucked at the song – I feel the emotion of the song, when it’s sung right.
Jennifer Hudson gave me the chills. What a beautiful rendition of Believe. Awesome. She sure can sing. Great show with the exception of Taylor Swift. Everybody ele is in gray and black and there she is with bright purple. Seeing her trying to push her way in between Brooks and Dunn at the finale was a little bit much. Taylor this was not about you.
I believe Jennifer did an exceptional job; I also thought that Sugarland was great ..It was a tribute to Brooks and Dunn and their accomplishments. That does not mean that every note has to played and/or sung exactly as the original. And whether you liked it or not, the tribute was to Brooks and Dunn..not Terri or any of the other persons not satisfied with any of the performances. You don’t have to sound country..to be country. Get rid of the biasness and anger. You moght feel better.
@Simone … who ever said anyone was angry. We’re all just stating our opinions of the performances. Just because most people who have commented on here like it doesn’t mean everyone has to, nor does it mean I should be criticized for my opinion. You like it … good for you! I thought it was horrible … that’s my opinion and nothing’s going to change it. I also think it should have been sung by another country music singer … like all the other songs were. That’s my opinion too. I have no anger, or bias, at all. I have a karaoke business, for which I make my own karaoke discs and I know LOTS of songs from all different genres of music, and I love them all. Thank you very much. I’m quite a happy person, especially when listening to music. You shouldn’t speak unless you know what you’re speaking of … you might feel better. :~)
screw dick clark production for holding up jennifer hudson video, to me she was better than most of the other singers, thanks!!!!!loved the song and her
jennifer was better than 75% of the other singers!!
I have never been so moved by a song. My jaw is still on the floor and I just cant stop thinking about it 3 days later. WOW
Thank you Jennifer for what you did for me.
I wouldn’t expect for Jennifer to sing and sound like Brooks and Dunn first she is a woman second with a different culture, however, If you believe in God this song will touch your heart whoever sings it. I sat here listening and I raised my head up to God and prayed after hearing these wonderful words by Brooks and Dunn. And I said to my father no matter what comes my way Almighty God I to Believe. That should be the most important message in this song. Not who sings it better but the message that God placed in these singers hearts and minds to share the the uplifting spirtual feelings of love for a power greater than ourselves if you believe. Carry on Brook,s Dunn and Jennifer Hudson. I received the powerful message from God, just Believe.
Hate from the hearts and minds of some people are very few, because I still believe that love conquers all. And that there are more people with love in his and her hearts than those who represent evil. The song is amazing Brooks and Dunn have to no who God is in order to write this song so perfect. Jennifer Hudson was asked to sing this as a tribute to Brooks and Dunn and she did a wonderful job singing this powerful song. I my God I believe I believe and I will alway’s believe! For those of you who feel it necessary to degrade this young woman for whatever reason, listen to the message that God gave the writers of this song to open the hearts of mankind. And maybe than you to will find no reason to latch out from an evil heart. Belive!
