I agree Tawny she has ever right to make a video like that. I was at her concert friday night in philly and well i LOVED IT she so deserves everything she gets.
I don’t have a problem with Taylor herself. She seems like a nice enough girl and obviously has millions of fans that love her. But I don’t think this is a great thing for ANY artist to do. Doing this, the artist is basically begging for votes and bragging about accomplishments when really it just seems like a an unecessary waste of “vote for me, I just want to remind you I’m awesome” space.
I have never heard of this being a common thing among other artists, as Taylor has said, so I think it’s just another way to grab the headlines.
That’s just me though, everyone has different opinions.
It’s cute. that’s right taylor, remind them you are the biggest baddest thing to hit the country scene in decades. Nothing wrong with that at all. Makes her all the more “real”. I like that about her. Plus, she’s telling the truth, why not enjoy the success and show happiness? If she won the biggest award in music (grammy AOTY) there is no reason for her not to win all of these as well.
I also think there’s a major difference between Keith (or any artist) putting out a video like this. Keith doesn’t tape every reaction to every little thing that happens to him; he doesn’t need the public to fawn over him or see his every move.
Taylor seems to do these kinds of videos a lot, and while it may make her seem “relatable” to some, I think it’s easy to see that she loves the spotlight and attention. I personally hate it when artists jump on the “look at me I’m so awesome” bandwagon, and Taylor does that all the time. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with staying connected to her fans, but everything seems to be about her accomplishments, not her fans. Sure, artists do this type of thing quite a bit, but she does it excessively to the point where it’s just annoying.
Keith, Carrie, Miranda and most other country artists just let the music speak. They don’t need to constantly film themselves or show an engaging personality to get votes. If Taylor wasn’t so over the top with flaunting herself I wouldn’t be complaining.
so what if Taylor made this video. she can do whatever she wants. if you don’t like her then that’s too bad. move on and get over it. She’s an amazing girl and she deserves all the best things in the world. she’s worked extremely hard and I am very proud of her.
Keith Urban would never do anything like this! It’s so immature. I can’t see any other artist doing this either. But for you guys that love it, fine. I could care less. I just think it’s very immature and silly. She’s gonna win everything any way because it’s fan voted. I’ve lost all respect for award shows so Taylor can do whatever she pleases. It’s still silly and corny to me. But she is still a youngster so it’s no surprise.
All artists do something for consideration of voters. It’s what they do. It’s not just Taylor. Brad and Keith put full page ad’s in industry places. They listed accomplishments, asked for the voters to vote for them. Sure it wasn’t as in your face as this but they did. Some do videos, some do ad’s. It’s their own personal choice how they do it but they do it. It doesn’t always come out in public like this. So before you say so and so wouldn’t do it. Think again. They probably did it, several times over the years.
Typical of Taylor to look for more attention. I think this shows how immature she really is and some of the comments come from those just as immature. Let the music speak for itself. If you could carry a tune live then you wouldn’t have to make a video basically begging for votes. Poor, pathetic Taylor. Perhaps this time around the industry will actually award people who have talent and not for pity.
Wait…Um…didn’t Luke Bryan and Joey and Rory make videos asking for votes…I know New Artist catagories are fan voted, but um…so is Entertainer of the Year. And, for those of you sounding like a broken record saying Taylor can’t sing live…I’m gonna go out on a limb here and assume you’ve all seen her live…not on tv…but actually live in person…Right? After all, if you are going off her television performances, then you all must also think Rascal Flatts suck big ones? I mean…they NEVER sound good on tv. I would know…I was one of the haters until I saw RF at the Opry. I’m still not a fan…just not my style of music, but they don’t suck. I was on the fence about Taylor too until I saw her at the Opry then took my daughter to her Fearless tour…Well what do ya know….she didn’t suck…In fact, I was highly entertained. Would I rather see Keith Urban snag the award…hell yes…but not because he works any harder or deserves it more…but because he is just more my style. If you are intent on hating Taylor…at least have the balls to actually see her live….that’s all…Have some knowledge to back-up your opinion and hatred…that’s all.
Why do you feel the need to put down Rascal Flatts when talking about live performances because you’re trying to build Taylor up? They are two very different acts with very different strengths and weaknesses.
I find it incredibly disrespectful that you would automatically assume that I have never given Taylor a chance because I don’t care for the majority of her music.
Guess what? I have. I’ve looked up several of her live performances, including the ones that are cringewrothy (Grammy’s, ACM’s CMA’s, GMA, ect. I’ve done this because I know live performances aren’t always a measure of true talent. I have done that with Taylor, so don’t stereotype me unless you know the facts please. Taylor has had some decent performances (which I did care enough to look up). I never said she didn’t have talent- I said she’s overrated. I find it sickening how everyone automaticaly jumps on the “Taylor defense” bandwagon when no other artists get the same treatment. Carrie, Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean and Lady A get the same comments, and you jump right in and agree.
Rascal Flatts are talented, and I think the language “suck a big one” is extremely immature. They have enough fans to keep them relevant for years, and they’ve already proven everyone wrong for ten. I’m not blinded enough to admit they haven’t had bad performances- but I’m not narrow-minded enough to believe they “always” suck on TV, as you are. Go watch their performance of “Brand New Man” at the Brooks and Dunn tribute, “Prayin For Daylight” at CRS, “Here Comes Goodbye” at the 2010 ACM’s, at Oprah with Jamie Foxx, the American Idol performance with Carrie Underwood, or the 2007 Grammy performance.
I don’t recall ever seeing artist campaign for votes until recently. The poster Keith has is just making a statement..for your consideration, not a mini movie. But like I said, to each their own. I have seen Taylor in concert and I probably won’t see her again. I thought it was more like a choreographed musical than a country concert. She is just not my cup of tea, neither is Rascal Flatts, which both have limited vocal range when performing live. I’ve seen them both and that’s what I get from their performances. Wouldn’t waste my money on either again, but that’s just me.
Is there anything Taylor won’t do for attention? I’ve never heard of any artist even being allowed to do anything like this.
I have a feeling if Keith Urban did this, there wouldn’t be one negative comment…am I right?
I agree Tawny she has ever right to make a video like that. I was at her concert friday night in philly and well i LOVED IT she so deserves everything she gets.
