I think CSI has been suffering in the last couple years with The departure of Peterson and the retooling of the cast. The Flatts guys may signaled the “jumping the shark” episode of CSI. This was the worst.
I love these guys, and I was really looking forward to this episode, but I hated this.
In my opinion, the guys themselves did a respectable enough job, but the plotline was cheesy (and obvious), and I think the subtle humor really didn’t work. The old “country vs rap” thing is so sterotypical, the fight scene was absured- who fights over not being able to agree on things as artists- really? The little peices just didn’t work- was the ditzy (bad actress) groupie really needed? How obvious is it that the guitar tech was responsible? The plot wasn’t developed well at all- I was really dissapointed with this. Even a little surprised that the guys would agree to take part in that – certaintly didn’t do them any favors. I almost wish they hadn’t played themselves- that doesn’t show true acting ability in most cases.
I know it was just a fun side project for them and their fans though- their career won’t suffer for it. I just wish CSI had dione a better job with the plotline and worked with the writers to make it more believable.
