What better way to spend Valentine’s Day than with the one you love? That is exactly what Joshua Scott Jones and Meghan Linsey, of the duo, Steel Magnolia did. This past Valentine’s Day, the real life couple and duo, Steel Magnolia were one of the featured acts for Rhode Island radio station Cat Country’s “Snowball” event on Valentine’s night. The sold-out acoustic show raised $11,000 for the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” campaign. Although the couple did not spend the romantic holiday in typical fashion, they were not afraid to hide their enthusiasm to spend it with their fans.
The evening began with a private meet and greet with Steel Magnolia, among other artists, where hors d’ oeuvres and champagne were served. Joshua and Meghan took time to speak to each one of their fans, sign autographs, and pose for pictures. One lucky fan even got a personal serenade from the duo. Check it out here.
After the meet and greet, Steel Magnolia graced the stage for a high energy, acoustic performance. Joshua played the guitar, while Meghan occasionally hit the tambourine. There was a mishap during the show however –Meghan’s microphone stopped working after they finished their first song. That did not stop the dynamic duo. For the next few songs while Meghan’s microphone was being fixed, the couple sang on the same microphone –something they admitted they had not done in a long time. The two rolled with the punches and continued to put on a wonderfully entertaining performance.
Throughout the show, the two had incredible chemistry both with each other and with the crowd. They told anecdotes behind many of the songs they co-wrote together, which often times resulted with chuckles coming from the audience. Joshua and Meghan made use of the small stage by constantly moving, reaching as many fans as they could. Joshua tossed several guitar pics to some lucky fans. At the end of the show, Joshua joked saying that he did not have any more pics left, but that Meghan probably had some in her purse. Meghan shook her head in agreement.
Overall, Steel Magnolia kept the crowd going with high energy songs such as “Ooh La La,” and their current single, “Keep On Lovin’ You.” They also set the mood for Valentine’s Day by singing ballads such as “Edge of Goodbye,” a heartfelt song which Joshua wrote one night when he and Meghan had a fight. Of course the couple made up and now look back and laugh on that night. Their undeniable compatibility both musically and romantically, accompanied with their fantastic fan interaction, made for an unbelievable evening!
