Sara Evan’s will be stopping at bookstores throughout the upcoming weeks to sign copies of her first novel. Co-written with Rachel Hauk, The Sweet By and By is a tale about a young woman, Jade Fitzgerald, who finds redemption in Christ while confronting the still-wounds of her childhood as she prepares for her own wedding.
According to the Tennessean.com, this is the first of a four book series for Sara. However, not all of it is autobiographical.
“Not everything about the book is like my life,” Evans said in a phone interview, pointing out the mother character in particular. “But just parts of it, like growing up in the Midwest on a farm and moving to the South and marrying a Southern boy.”
The book came at a time when Sara wasn’t particularily feeling able to express herself with her music.
“It was a really good way for me to express myself and just get things out,” she said. “It was very hard for me to write songs at that time. I was just like, I can’t write anything happy; I can’t write anything sad; I’m just too blah. So writing this book, I was like, ‘Hey, I’ll get into this character, into her life, and forget about mine for a while.’ “
Sara will be at Davis Kidd Bookstore in Green Hills on Monday, January 11th at 7pm to sign copies of her book.
