2010 celebrates 10 years of Rascal Flatts.  What an exciting decade and rise they have made for themselves.    Rascal Flatts are the most awarded country music group of all time and are selling out stadium shows while playing to millions of fans all around the US and Canada. 

Looking back over the last 10 years the men of Rascal Flatts admit that mistakes have been made, but Gary Levox tells The Tenneseean, 

 “You have to make mistakes to get better and know not to do it again.”

Gary, Jay Demarcus and Joe Don Rooney also clear up any “rumors” or questions about why they decidied not to play the 2009 CMA’s.   Jay says:

“What’s gone on with the CMAs each year is that we have been asked to play, but last year was the first time we decided not to play in all the times we’ve been invited. The reason was we were under a really big schedule crunch doing the new record, and we couldn’t figure out which song to do. We had several choices, and we just couldn’t land on a choice we were confident was the right one during the awards. We weren’t intending to make a statement to anyone … like Rascal Flatts is upset because they didn’t get this nomination.”

And while we are on the subject of the CMA’s Rascal Flatts agrees that Lady Antebellum had a fantastic 2009 but they are ready to come back swinging in 2010 and take back what has been theirs for six years.

Jay admits, “Honestly, losing lit a fire under our [butts] to say, ‘You know what, this has been our award for the last six years, and we need to go take it back … and we are going to work our tails off to try and do that very thing. We’re not that old yet.”
