In a year when it seems to be all about Taylor Swift, there’s a top-10 list that doesn’t have her name. The Country Music Association says the list of Top 10 Radio Hits of 2009 is topped by Jason Aldean and “She’s Country.”
This list is based on radio airplay and shows Zac Brown Band’s “Whatever It Is” is in second for the year. Here are the other top 8 songs of 2009 based on airplay:
- Darius Rucker and “It Won’t Be Like This For Long”
- Keith Urban’s “Sweet Thing”
- Toby Keith’s “God Love Her”
- Dierks Bentley’s “Sideways”
- Lady Antebellum ”I Run to You”
- Rodney Atkins ”It’s America,”
- “Feel That Fire” Dierks Bentley
- Zac Brown Band’s “Chicken Fried”
This is CMA’s list of the 10 songs that got the most play on radio during the year, based on Mediabase via Country Aircheck.

Even when the news isn’t about Taylor – you make it about her. Those who made the top ten should have been recognized without her name appearing anywhere in the title or article. Congratulations to those who made the list – that’s a nice accomplishment.
Obvious reason she did not make the top 10—– ALL HER SONGS SOUND ALIKE AND THE GIRL CANNOT SING! Cute and perky only goes so far! She is not even close to country—— she is a Hollywood girl and that is why she gets all the publicity. I like crossover music, but she is strictly pop and Hollywood. She also has a great publicist.
Go Jason, go Jason!!
I have to disagree with the comments so far. While I am excited for the artists mentioned, and I believe they are all just as deserving, I feel Taylor is country and has talent. Perhaps a different talent than the stars listed above, but she’s clearly doing something right. Congratulations to the winners, and Dierks for having two songs!
The point of this post was not to make it about Taylor. THINK ABOUT IT THOUGH…. For a song to win Song of the Year at the CMA’s and NOT make the top 10 of radio play??????? That is worth mentioning. Don’t you think? Of coarse we listed the Top 10 to say Congratulations to them!
I believe cause this is country air play. Big difference. Congratulations to those that made the list.
If you didn’t want to make the post about Taylor – you should have left her name off it. She didn’t make the top 10 – those who did should have been celebrated more. It’s like they were an afterthought. We all know Taylor has been nominated and awarded things that she never deserved and still will never deserve.
Having her name as lead only brings more hate to someone who really shouldn’t be considered a country performer and it just builds and builds. When Taylor Swift does something that warrants publicity, like sings an entire song in key – report on that. Stop throwing her name on everything.
