A 28 year run of one of Nashville’s favorite radio shows is about to come to an end…well, and end as we know it. Gerry House and his crew of funny-men have been entertaining the drive to work for Middle Tennessee for the past 28 years. However, Clear Channel is down-sizing the crew due to ‘budget cuts.’ December 23rd will be the last day for Al Voecks and Duncan Stewart while Gerry House and Mike Bohan continue the show as a duo.
Gerry told the Tennessean, “I’ve been to the point where I’ve quit and renegotiated and come back…These are tough times economically. I hate this, but we have to step forward.”
Us here at CMTT are OUTRAGED!!! I read this in the Tennessean on Tuesday and listened to Gerry discuss it on air yesterday. For one thing, Gerry House’s show is pretty popular while also being consistently nominated (and winning) broadcasting awards. This group of guys has become like family to the Nashville community while lifting our spirits every morning until 10am. Why mess with perfection?
You can listen live to Gerry and his gang on www.wsix.com , and if you like what you hear and don’t wanna see it end call 615-664-2400 and you can call Gerry himself at 615-737-9800.
We will miss you Al and Duncan. We hope that y’all are welcomed back with open arms, but if what’s done is really done…then know you will be missed.
