Carrie Underwood’s An All-Star Holiday Special is on TV right now and it seems to be what everyone on Twitter is talking about right now.

I am seeing great reviews:

and I am seeing not great reviews.

“I would rather gouge my eyes (and ears) out with a rusty fork than watch this Carrie Underwood special.”

I am not posting Twitter names for their protection. : )

I hate it! Not a fan of hers anyway but wanted to see some of the other people she was having on there. I could barely stand to watch the first hour. I thought it was called a holiday special yet I heard no holiday music? whatever

  3. Lisa G says:

  4. Bigred says:

I didn’t watch it, why? Because there were better things on, like MNF.

  5. vp says:

The show is very entertaining, the music is just pleasure to my ears, not to many gals are as versitile or have pipes like her.

  6. Dee says:

Enjoying it & seeing her family! Also, David Cook was AWESOME!

  7. Robyn says:

Awesome! Loved the duet with Brad Paisley! Looking forward to hearing her sing with Dolly.

  8. Lisa G says:

FYI it’s not just a Christmas special, it’s a variety show!!! THIS IS SHOW IS AMAZING!!!!!!!! Carrie Underwood IS THE BEST!!!!!! She can sing anything, wear anything and do whatever and it will be AMAZING!!!!!

  9. dana says:

I love Carrie so I’m really enjoying it, but I’m still waiting to see the HOLIDAY in her Holiday Special. I guess I thought there would be more Christmas songs and not just her singing her hits and new songs.

  10. Country Girl says:

Hey Lisa… according to the TV guide the show is called: “An All-Star Holiday Special” : )

  11. K says:

Melinda- this show was called the “Carrie Underwood Holiday Special” for a reason- it wasn’t supposed to focus on other people. I really enjoyed the show- Standouts were “Jesus, Take The Wheel,” “Temporary Home,” “O Holy Night” and the Brad Paisley duet for me. I was surprised at the skits- they all turned out great and Carrie was very comical. My favorite moments were probably the Ace and Dolly skits, and the American Idol spoof. This was the perfect show for the holiday season, and it really showed Carrie’s unmatchable vocals. I loved it!

  12. Joe says:

I really love Carrie underwood she has one of the best voices in the music business and I really enjoyed the singing of her. She is also really funny but maybe a little less of the skits a little 2 much but I loved this show

  13. jagers says:

The show was awesome! Love to see 1 often! Can’t wait for the tour!!Awesome!

  14. Heather S says:

This was the best show ever!!! I do believe the promos said it was a variety show and she was gonna sing some of her own songs. MNF was on and I’m the biggest Packer fan but I recorded that in favor of watching Carrie cuz shes so awesome and I LOVE her!! Why come here and say ya didn’t like it anyways? If I don’t like something I don’t waste my time commenting on it but then I have better things to do like watch Carrie on her awesome incredible show!!

  15. flutters says:

Lots of highlights on Carrie’s show and most of them came in the 2nd hour: Carrie singing with Brad was FANTASTIC – Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man!! Carrie singing What Can I Say, Change, Jesus Take The Wheel, O Holy Night, and Temporary Home = beautiful because the passion and emotion of her voice are so powerful. Dolly and Carrie were great on I Will Always Love You. Dolly and Brad were great on their solos.

There were some funny skits too especially the one with Dolly, the one that was “behind the scenes” of Carrie as a writer, and the one revealing how Carrie won AI.

I’d give the special a B+ (I want to say A- but I’m so biased!). I’m already a Carrie fan and I loved it but I also see room for improvement.

  16. Donna says:

Every part of this show was great–and to all the negative nay sayers Holiday Special It is the Holidays and it was a Special A great Special

  17. muspirit says:

The 2nd hour was gobs better than the first. The first was more skits with Carrie singing but the second started out with a great performance of “Songs like this” and it was rocking! From there it went to Brad and Dolly then the ending had Christmas songs and of course “change” The skits were ok but you had to know Carrie. If you didn’t, I think you would have been lost. Best skit was her dog Ace talking. Overall, I’d give it a B+ , A+ for singing, C for skits. Worst skits were the getting her sister a date skits.

  18. DJ says:

I loved the show! I thought for Carrie’s first variety show…it was very entertaining. I smiled through the whole thing. I loved the way Carrie could make fun of herself. Everyone was great…the skits were funny and the music was awesome! Something for everyone. I hope Carrie gets to do more shows…my friends and I will definitely be tuning in!! Great job, Carrie!!! I give it an A for awesome!

  19. Lisa G says:

Countrygirl, oh I know but it was a variety show! My comment wasn’t directed to you, it was to someone else, sorry if it sounded like it but it was a variety show, I LOVED IT!!!!!!

I enjoyed it! Loved the part about her dog Ace!

  22. Jan says:

I thought it was great. There was a great mix of music and corny skits. No one can sing like Carrie. Oh Holy Night gave me chills. I hope she does it again next year. With one under her belt it will probably be even better than this one.

  23. tenpoundhammer says:

I loved every minute of it! Best entertainment I’ve seen on TV in a long, long time. Carrie was outstanding and what a great sense of humor!

  24. Tammy says:

OK, seriously….. I watched the first 10 minutes of it and had to turn it off because I couldn’t stand it! When someone puts on a Holiday Show, you don’t expect them to open up with Cowboy Casanova… which her singing live, you can barely understand her… even my mom was going “What in the _ _ll is she saying?” So I’m saying sorry to Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton now if they sang actual Holiday music and I missed it, but I just don’t think I could have sat through the whole 2 hr show! And yes, I am NOT a Carrie fan at all.

  25. Jillian says:

Well, Tammy….you missed a great show. But why would you tune in at all if you are not a Carrie fan…just to get to say something negative. Carrie was great and so were all her guests. We loved it! Hardly ever do you get to see that much great music in one show. I hope she does another one next year. I’ll be tuning in for sure!! And yes, I AM a Carrie fan!!!!

  26. Marie says:

Country music is not my favorite genre but I enjoyed Carrie Underwood’s special. I may go and buy her album. It was a very entertaining show with funny skits and wonderful singing. Her guests were great, too.

  27. Jan says:

Marie, you SHOULD get the album; it’s really, really good. I thought the show was delightful. Great singing all around….and cute skits…but GREAT singing.

  28. Doemeg says:

Loved it. Carrie can sing like no other. The girl can sing anything. Loved her solos, Daivd Cook’s solo, her duet with Ashley Clark and his brothers (he is a sweetheart), the montage with her mom, seeing Ace and her sister. For me the parts with Dolly and Brad dragged. Disappointed the duet with David Cook was cut though. Loved the Idol comedy skit. And “Leader of the Pack,” as well. Looks like Carrie is back in her groove! can’t wait to see her live!

  29. holiday says:

I almost turned the special off because of the skits They should have had holiday decorations, memories of special Christmas, songs around the fireplace. Not gay jokes, not cheating jokes which were inappropriate. The singing was great and love that but the rest was horrible. Definitely not a holiday show unless you count the last 5 minutes of a 2 hr. special.

  30. Kristi says:

I thought it was cute. I was expecting it to be more Christmas-like, but I guess it was called a “holiday special” and not a “Christmas special.” I liked it though. It’s nice to see a different side of Carrie every once in a while.

  31. Robbi says:

I love Carrie Underwood, She is beautiful and talented. But I could not stand her variety show at all. It was silly. Not very entertaining at all. I hope the next one is better

  32. Tammy says:

I picked Carrie as a Star from the first time I saw her on American Idol – But never have i been so disappointed in a show as I was in the holiday Speicial. Why would Carrie allow her people to put her into such tepid waters as gay dialouge, playing the blonde bimbo, removing her mother from the stage and acting conceited on a live Christmas Show. Where was the Xmas music the Holy Revernd feeling , the Beautiful dresses and Angelic voice we all turn out sets on to see and hear – instead we got black leather outfits- kiss boots and a bad try at humor. As your mother said Carrie I hope next year you will stick to the Xmas side of it – if you have another show.
