Were only one day away from country musics’ biggest night! The Country Music Awards will be hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. And CMA wants to make sure that you tune in from start to finish! Taylor Swift has been chosen to give the opening performance.
Taylor says she is still amazed she’s up for four CMA awards, including entertainer of the year. She’s the youngest ever nominated for that award. And, she’s the first solo female since Faith Hill in 2000. Taylor says man or woman, it doesn’t matter. She says “you have to do the work and put in the effort and do the touring that it takes to win entertainer of the year.” She says it doesn’t have anything to do with gender. And, to see how serious this 19-year-old is about her career, Taylor adds “if you want to compete with the boys, play on a level that they’re playing at.”
ABC has country music covered this morning and later tonight as a run-up to tomorrow’s CMA Awards. Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley are performing live during “Good Morning America.” They’ll be in the plaza outside the Sommet Center in Nashville. In the evening, there’s a one-hour special. It’s called “In the Spotlight With Robin Roberts: Bright Lights. Big Stars. All Access Nashville.” She interviews Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw and Martina McBride.
