Fans began lining up hours before the show started. As the concert grew closer, fans’ cell phones were buzzing with tweets from Jake Owen, himself. Girls were screaming and giggling as they read the following tweet from Jake, “Let’s get naked.” Which was quickly followed up by, “Never had so many responses in my life.. People like gettin naked.. Especially in the rain.” What a way to get the crowd going even before entering the venue!
The show started about 9pm. Jake came out and the crowd went wild. He opened the show with his latest single, “8 Second Ride.” From the minute the show began, the place was feeling energetic and lively. Jake tossed out guitar pics like they were Halloween candy. He made use of the small stage by dancing around almost the entire night. It seemed like he made eye contact with every individual in the small venue. Many girls left happy that night just because Jake caught their eye and gave them a smile.
About half way through the show, Jake slowed it down for a brief acoustic set –nothing but a boy, his guitar, and a barstool. Jake said he liked getting back to his roots, playing solo like he did just a few short years ago. During his acoustic set, Jake had the crowd captivated. It felt as if we were sitting in his living room as he strummed his guitar.
Just as soon as the crowd had relaxed, Jake picked up the pace as his band joined him back on stage. He finished the night off with his hit, “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You.” He surprised his listeners by coming back for an encore. He played a medley of covers including Sublime’s “What I Got,” and the theme song to the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” by Will Smith. He certainly rocked the house!
After the show, a lucky group of fan club members were able to have a meet and greet. Jake took time to take pictures, sign autographs, and chat with his fan club members. He expressed his humbleness and gratitude by personally thanking his fans for driving several hours just to see his show. He topped the night off by tweeting, “Jersey was good times.. Naked and all.” Overall, Jake put on a great show and it is safe to say everyone had a rocking good time!
