The Renaissance Hotel downtown Nashville was buzzing this weekend when the Nashville Songwriters Association International held their awards/induction ceremony, and both Toby Keithand Taylor Swift  were winners.

Taylor Swift (off course) took home Songwriter/Artist of the year for the 2nd time since 2007.

“These are the people that write melodies you can’t get out of your head and the people who have built Nashville to be what it is. So the fact that they’ve given me a little gold star is really wonderful. It’s a big gold star. So I’m very excited about it.”

Toby Keith took home an even bigger award; Songwriter/Artist of the Decade!!! Whoa, didn’t see that coming…

“I’ve worked my tail off, I’ve wrote really hard. God blessed me to be a songwriter first and foremost and I can’t think of anything out of the 60 or 70 awards that can even challenge this at all. This is a premium.”
