Looks like artists are being dropped and are mysteriously missing from record labels all over Music Row these days. No one is safe from the economic down turn – not even record labels and their artists.

It was announced that Caitlin & Will have parted ways with Columbia Records Nashville. After winning Can You Duet, they were signed to Columbia Records’ Nashville division and started work on recording their debut album. On March 31, 2009, they released a six song digital EP, entitled Caitlin & Will – EP. It featured their debut single “Address in the Stars”, which was intended as the lead-off single to a full-length and now not-to-be-released studio record titled Dark Horse.
Also mysteriously missing off of the Columbia Records website is Keith Anderson. Known for hits “Pickin’ Wildflowers”, “XXL”, “Every Time I Hear Your Name”, and “I Still Miss You”, Anderson’s one album on the Columbia label was August 2008′s C’mon. He had previously released an album on the Arisa Nashville label.

I hope Caitlin & Will catch on somewhere. They are very talented. Keith Anderson on the other hand has put out two albums that were awful overall, with only a handful of good songs. C’Mon is one of the worst albums I’ve ever bought. Hopefully, he will do something creative on an indie label and distance himself from the focus group, soccer-mom junk he was putting out on the major labels.
The reason acts are getting dropped is they aren’t selling records or generating any interest on radio. Music Row needs to rethink the model and actually put out GOOD music and good songs.
Hopefully Keith will find a label that truly appreciates his talent. He is an amazing song writer and is amazing to see live. I disagree about the above post about him as his last album C’Mon is one of my favorites. I listen to it over and over in my car. And i know i will continue buying his albums in the future. Plus, Keith is amazing to his fans and is one of the most personable artists that i have ever met. I hope some other label recognizes what i and a lot of other fans see!!!
Keith Anderson is one AWESOME singer/songwriter. ’C'mon’ is one of the BEST country CD’s to be released in a long time. The problem lies with the LABEL, not the ARTIST! Adam, it’s obvious you don’t know a damn thing about GOOD music or you would know Keith is one of the best out there today. The label hasn’t been promoting him the way it should. It’s their loss. Keith has an amazing fan base who will follow him where ever he goes and continue to buy his CD’s. Maybe it’s time he did like Toby Keith and some others, start HIS OWN LABEL.
We love ya, Keith!!
Keith Anderson is an AMAZING singer/songwriter..He has written a few songs for some of the biggest people in country music. His Cmon album is one of the best out there but it’s the LABEL’s whose not promting Keith like they should. Maybe this is a blessing, hopefully Keith will be recognized for what he is and what he can do. Any LABEL should be blessed to have such an amazing artist as Keith Anderson. KEITH has some of the most genuine amazing fans and we all stand behind him and support him. Keep doing your thing Keith…We LOVE IT!

The 1st 2 comments clearly do not know what they are talking about. I have been a fan since the 1st CD. The 2nd CD ROCKs! even more than the 1st. I live in a PODUNK town and traveled 1-1/2 hrs last year to see him, and the outdoor amphitheater was PACKED and that was even with 2 new ones singing before him that had their 1st CD out! There are a lot of changes going on everywhere…that does not mean that the ARTIST is to BLAME!! Put the fault where it goes…its not the SINGER…in almost every situation where the label has dropped them….it has NOT been the ARTISTS fault at all! In this instance….we can look also at the SONGS KEITH has written for other artists, 1 of which was on the C’MON CD was also published by another artist because they co-wrote it!!!! I do not usually post on these things, but don’t want to see someone who sings AND WRITES songs SO WELL be DISCOURAGED because of a couple of bad comments!! Keith just let it bounce off of you and keep going…only stumbling blocks in your path….we need your GREAT MUSIC in our lives….you sing like an ANGEL! It has not been that long, but we CAN’T wait for the NEXT CD! C’MON
Keith Anderson is one of the best artists out there. The record label did not promote him like they should have and did not send his last two singles to all the radio stations to play. The listeners did not get a chance to hear them. I hope Keith finds a label that is interested in him and properly promotes him. His C’mon CD has some amazing songs on it. Keith we are all behind you and love you.
Keith Anderson is one of the most talented artists in Country-amazing performer and very gifted songwriter, with a rabid fan base!! Not promoting him is just another dumb decision (they tend to make lots of them) by industry folks who think they know what the fans want to listen to, when in reality they are clueless!! Country music has been on the slide ever since the “suits” started telling the fans what they wanted to listen to, instead of letting the fans decide who they wanted to hear. Keith will come out of this stronger and better, he is a wonderful human being with many, many friends in the music industry and a fan base that ADORES him and will follow him wherever he goes. As one of his fans, I count myself lucky to have found him and his music! Country music needs more artists like Keith Anderson, he is what Country music use to be about, love of the ART of making music and connecting with the fans!!
Caitlin and Will had songs that almost everyone could ralate to and its simply ridulous there r so many talents out there who r not bein recongized then we have artists that r signed and have written some of the most stupidest songs ever WE LOVE YOU CAIT AND WILL!
I’ve seen Keith Anderson in concert twice and love him. He is my favorite singer at the moment. His band is awesome too. I’m obsessed with them. I have been to many concerts in my lifetime and Keith Anderson and his band are THE BEST I have ever seen!!!! I am certain Keith could have his own record label!
