Tracy Lawrence, is set to perform a memorable concert for American troops stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in early October.
As an extraordinary detour from his upcoming fall tour across the U.S., Tracy will perform at the base at Guantanamo Bay on Sunday, October 4, 2009; the visit will situate him before a unique audience unlike any other in his 20-year career.
Commonly referred to as “Gitmo,” Guantanamo Bay is the location of the American detainment facility and home to nearly eight thousand U.S. troops stationed at the base that is located on Cuba’s shore. Guantanamo Bay has the distinction of being the oldest U.S. base overseas and the only one in a Communist country.
“I jump at the opportunity to perform for our servicemen and women when I am able—for those who do so very much to protect our freedoms and security,” Lawrence said. “Without question ’Gitmo’ has made headline news, both past and present, but the people situated there are giving and caring individuals. We need to be thankful everyday for their sacrifices and commitment to our country.”
