Based on the title of this post you know that this is TOTALLY RUMOR at this point and I have been unable to get a confirmation BUT word on Music Row is that RCA has dropped Martina McBride from their label.
If this is true it is SHOCKING! With her new record out and doing good, a CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Nomination and a career that can certainly stand on it’s own I would be curious to know why.
We are working on finding more facts to these rumors and will update you as soon as we know something.
UPDATED: Martina says that everything is alright and that there are no truth to the rumors…that she is aware of. This came directly from Martina’s Twitter today:

I hope it isn’t true! Her most recent album is really good to me but sales wise it hasn’t lived up at all to her previous releases. It fell off the top 200 almost immediately after release. That’s kind of sad for one of country music’s best voices. If she is dropped, it’s safe to say she’ll probably be snatched up by another label. Maybe Valory like Reba or maybe make her own label. I’m sure though no matter what Martina will do what she does best. Put out great music and grace our lives with it.
I love Martina and I hope things work out ok for her. She and Carrie are 2 of my favorite artists. They both can sing great. Carrie sang a lot of Martina’s songs on AI and I really started liking Martina then–and have bought her albums.
This has GOT to be total bullshit. And if it’s not, I’m buying a plan ticket to Nashville right now and rioting on the steps of RCA. She’s the BEST female vocalist in country music, without a doubt. No one comes close to that voice.
We are hoping that this is just rumor but we are sure that if she was dropped for some crazy reason…..she will have NO problem getting another record label to sign her. She is one of the greatest voices in country music.
I agree. Martina has too great of a voice to stop singing. But her last few albums and singles haven’t been huge for her, which means less profit for the label. If I had to guess I’d say she will get dropped by RCA then create her own independent label. I don’t think she is doing commerically well, so big labels won’t take a chance on her.
Martina just tweeted me. I said “There’s a rumor that you’ve been dropped by RCA?!?! Please tell us it’s false!” and she said “Where did you hear that? Not that I know of!” ..so straight from Martina, it’s not true!!
If this is true, I have completely lost all respect for RCA. They just signed Danny Gokey to try to turn him into a country music star (a huge job I seriously doubt they can accomplish) … to drop a huge country star they already hae would be ridiculous.
