Jason Aldean is giving fans “The Truth” as the third single from his critically acclaimed third album WIDE OPEN.   The official add date is Mon., Sept. 28.

“This is one of those songs that I heard the first time and knew I wanted to cut,” says Aldean. “It’s about a relationship going bad and the guy just losing it over this girl. He’s basically begging…saying ‘make up whatever story you want, tell ‘em I left town or whatever you need to say…just don’t tell ‘em the truth.’ I don’t know a guy who hasn’t been through that before.”

Written by Ashley Monroe and Brett James, “The Truth” is a mid-tempo plea for mercy, laden with electric and lap steel guitar, that allows Jason to pour his soul into the expressive vocal.
