I didn’t realize how closely our readers have followed the Rascal Flatts and Keith Urban battle between Tawny Tucker and I.  Since Sunday morning I have received over 25 emails from readers asking what I thought of the sold out Keith concert at the Sommet Center Saturday night and if I was ditching Rascal Flatts for a brand new man.

Let me say first and foremost Rascal Flatts fans….I am and forever will be a Rascal Flatts fan.  For me music is personal, it tells a story of my life and Rascal Flatts have been there for 7 years now helping me remember my story.  That will never change.  So don’t worry, Rascal Flatts will always be my number one.

BUT Saturday night was an amazing night for a number of reasons.

With Tawny being such a big Keith Urban fan for a number of years now it was not hard to find other die hard fans from the fan club.  We were able to meet up with friends from around the world that have one thing in common – their unwavering love for Keith Urban.  What was so neat was not only were these women excited to see Keith and his band Saturday night but once they found out it way my first time seeing him they seemed even more excited for me to see him!

When Sugarland took the stage Saturday night I stood in amazement watching.  Hearing Jennifer belt out notes in a range that is hard to compare you would never know that they have been cancelling shows due to vocal problems.  They were spot on.  The chemistry between Jennifer and Kristian is undeniable.  The theatrical spin is something you don’t see much in country music and it is very enjoyable.  It wasn’t a lot of “show” as I have been told their shows usually are.  It was nice to see more of just them interacting with each other and the crowd.  Sugarland is definitely a must see in my book, and if you can catch them on tour with Keith Urban you are sure to leave with an experience of a lifetime.

We have heard from fans in the past that Keith Urban brings in his own security to work his portion of the show.  A lot have said that when this happens the floor turns into chaos.  What we experienced on Saturday was nothing of the sort.  Everything was very orderly with no pushing, shoving or fighting.  Our 15th row seats turned into first row standing directly on the ramp that leads to the floor.  As my friend Mariah put it “If your going to have a first Keith Urban experience this is the way to do it!”  She wasn’t kidding.  We were up front from the first song to the last.  If you follow @cmtt on Twitter then you know that the only words I was able to get out through most of the concert was OMG OMG OMG OMG! From the first song to the last Keith played through all sorts of emotions.  I was overwhelmed by the extreme talent that the entire band brings to a Keith Urban show.  It was unbelievable.

In most of our interviews with country music artists we like to ask them if they could pick one act to open for who would it be.  99% of the time the answer is Keith Urban.  After seeing him play to the sold our crowd at the Sommet Center Saturday night I fully appreciate and understand the answer to that question.

I left the Keith Urban concert with a new appreciation for country music and a live show.  I also left with new friends and for me that is what this website and music is all about.

I am officially a Keith Urban fan!

Tawny asked me what moment really made me a fan and for me it was a number of reasons.  Of coarse I left the concert Saturday night as a fan but the moment that really helped me see Keith Urban as a person was on Monday at his press conference for the “We’re All for the Hall Show”.

WARNING – I already told you this was going to keep going and going.

Hearing the story of where he came from, his musical background of playing clubs at the age of 12 and his dream of moving to Nashville to make an album was inspiring.  To hear him talk about the history of music and how important it is to him and how it should be important to ALL artists defined him as a musician.

I’m not gonna lie, hearing the sweet melody of “Making Memories of Us” acoustic sent chill bumps down my legs.

On top of the press conference, TV/radio interviews, and this HUGE benefit concert that he is hosting in October Keith still stopped to sign autographs and took pictures with fans on Monday morning.  What isn’t there to be a fan of?
