Halfway to Hazard’s Annual Charity Trailride raised some big bucks this past weekend. Nearly 25,000 country music fans flocked to the hills of eastern Kentucky, raising over $200,000 dollars for the Buckhorn Children’s and Family Center.
Halfway to Hazard’s Chad Warrix says, “We were hoping to just double last year’s attendance of 7,500 and raise more than the $110,000. The fact we more than tripled attendance and doubled money raised this year is staggering! We applaud all the volunteers and artists for helping us in accomplishing and surpassing our goals.”
More than 1,000 people participated in the trailride this past weekend, including Nascar legend Kyle Petty.
Petty laughed while riding through the thick dust clouds kicked up by the ATVs, “This is just like when there’s a wreck on the racetrack. You just drive through the smoke and pray you make it safely to the other side.”
After the trailride, the fields were flooded with fans to watch Tim McGraw, Dierks Bentley, Danielle Peck, Keith Anderson, Lee Brice, and Halfway to Hazard perform.
Country Girl will be talking with the guys later this week to discuss the secret to their successful fundraiser.
