BIG NEWS from Twitter tonight……Looks like Ne-Yo is in Nashville for a few days helping Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood on songs.
This came in just a few hours ago directly from Ne-Yo’s Twitter page:
In Nashville working for a couple of days with Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood, so looking forward to that.
Rascal Flatts were teasing their fans a few weeks ago and trying to get them to guess who they had been working with in the studio. No one guessed it correctly….I wonder if this is who they were talking about.

YUCK! This is a very sad day for Country Music!
That’s really cool. I like that people can work together in a genre that is not their own and hold total respect for it all.
I have wanted a duet with the Flatts and Carrie now it looks like there will be one. The duet they did on AI was great. Can’t wait to see what happens. They are my favorit artists. Can’t wait for Carrie’s new album November 3rd. Congrats Carrie for the Hall of Fame induction in OK. She gave a great performance at Ft Campbell. Her voice is better live than on records —–and I did not think that was possible. Carrie is awesome!!!!!
This is exactly what’s wrong with country music!
Sami – I don’t think that Rascal Flatts and Carrie are doing a duet together. I am under the impression that they are working on separate songs. Adam & ME – I don’t understand the problem in artists working with an array of people. It’s not like Ne-Yo will be singing on their albums (at least I don’t think he is). From what I heard they are writing sessions. Just because someone comes from another genre of music doesn’t mean that they don’t have the same emotions that country music is known for. I think it’s great!
Thanks for the info Countrygirl. But I am still hoping for a duet from them sometime in the future. I think they sound great together. I do not see a problem with writers from other genres writing for country artists. I think it is great they can work together. Isn’t that what a lot of the artists are doing now? I think all artists work hard to sing what their fans want and hope they get it right. Wouldn’t this world be great if we all could get along and wotk together. Like MJ ‘s song “Heal The Worrld-make it a better place for you and for me and the entire human race”.
When I first read this, my first reaction was a cross between “@!#!” and “This should be interesting.” Now that I’ve thought about it though, I think this is a GREAT idea. But I also think Rascal Flatts may be singing with him; I think the hints about a surprise guest may be uncovered. Sami- RF has twittered that they are working with a “huge female star;” because they are working with many of the same writers, there is a possibility a duet could be in the works. I also thought I read the guys are looking at a possible song written by Ryan Tedder of One Republic; Carrie is writing with him as well.

The RF boys have already confirmed it’s not Carrie they’re duetting with because lots of people were guessing Carrie. They’ve talked about how they’ve wanted to record with Pink and Kelly Clarkson. They’ve already sung with Kelly so maybe it’s Pink they’re duetting with. Whoever the duet’s with it’s already recorded according to RF’s tweets.
RF’s already sung with Jamie Foxx so writing with Ne-Yo isn’t a stretch.
Carrie wrote in a session with Ryan Tedder and Zac Maloy according to a picture posted on a studio site, they all have the connection of being Okies. I think Ryan Tedder’s doing something different with Rascal Flatts.
Thanks Flutters. But at the same time, I could see how the guys wouldn’t want to tell their fans it was Carrie, in the case the duet did not end up making their next album. But if it isn’t Carrie, I’d guess Clarkson. She was supposed to sing on the orginal recording of “What Hurts The Most,” but couldn’t because of scheduling conflicts; they have probably been trying to do something with her since then. I’ve also heard Pink and Gary are really good friends though, so it would make sense for them to record with her. Who knows? Guess we’ll have to wait and see. On the topic of Underwood though, I’d guess with certainty they are going to do something with her. She has stated she is a huge fan, and said in an interview that they are in her top two of dream tour partners. Gary has also said she is his favorite current country artist, so they have obvious respect for her in turn.

Hmmmm….Carrie said this a while back on her fan cub: “I’m working on a duet (if you can call it that since there is more than one person involved…hint hint). We’ve only talked about it, but the initial meetings about it have been really great! And I know all of you will definitely appreciate my partner(s). Sorry, that’s all the hints I can give right now.” Maybe it IS Rascal Flatts then? I bet it is. All these clues from both sides make it sound like it to me. I personally hope not haha…I know this is practically blaspeme on your blog….but I don’t like the Flatts very much. I’d much rather have another duet with Brad Paisley or maybe Keith Urban or Miranda Lambert or martina mcbride…or ANYONE else haha.
