The biggest complaint I get from non-alcoholic Kenny Chesney fans is the ‘drunkfest’ that unravels at Kenny’s concerts. I’ve had friends get puked on, knocked over, hit, and even peed on by fellow-concert goers who ‘couldn’t hold their booze.’ Well, this past weekend Foxborough authorities decided to stop the mayhem before it started. Last year 2 Kenny concert-goers were killed in an alcohol related accident, so this year police cracked-down on the madness.
Out of the 56,000 in attendance, police detained 342 people with 115 people being arrested for either underage drinking, trespassing, or public intoxication. This was the most arrests at an event within the past 10 years.
“It was necessary for the safety of the fans that didn’t get drunk,” he said. “In 2007, we had significant violence in the parking lot of the surrounding area for people without tickets, and we wanted to avoid that this year.”
I applaud this effort. I have no problem with people having a few drinks and a good time. However, when you start affecting the non-drinking people around you…there is a problem. And when a crowd that size gets behind the wheels of their cars…things could get ugly.

Wow! They needed a paddy wagon! Haha!
But I totally understand. I don’t drink. And the fact that people are drunk and it’s $7 per a beer is just MINDBOGGLING to me!
i was there, it was definitely more strict than last year (couldn’t go into the parking lots before 1, where usually its 10 or 11). I get people getting annoyed with super drunk people – what I don’t get is people who go to a 7 hour long music festival and sit down in their seats the entire time, and get mad when other people are singing and dancing. some people need to lighten up or stay home!!!
I was there as well. We got into our lot around 11 but weren’t allowed to start drinking until 1:00. I didn’t see any issues in our particular lot but saw a few people that were pretty out of it in the ladies room and definitely saw a few people being taken out of the bathroom/stadium by the paramedics. Not sure if those were alcohol or heat related issues though. I think that the heavy police presence helped keep people in check all though there will always be those people who can’t seem to control themselves. And I agree with Courtney, it’s really annoying to not be able to be up and dancing/singing at a show that you pay that much money to enjoy. There should be a special “no fun” section for people that get mad about that.
