Dierks Bentley took to his blog to tell us about his newest single, his tour with Brad, and his own headlining tour…
Hey guys… On a plane flying from Denver to Minot via Minneapolis… Headlining the state fair tonight there which means we get to play a few more songs than usual. Excited about that. Working on the setlist right now. I think back to how many setlists I’ve drawn up, especially back in the club days and even earlier, playing downtown Nashville… Somewhere there is a thick stack of papers with sharpied songs all over them. Saved a lot of them… just don’t know where they are. And now I’m sitting on a plane writing one on a laptop… Pretty cool. I’m going to leave a gap in the middle for a request from the Congress… bring some suggestions to the meet and greet tonight.
It’s been a fun summer with Brad…He has been great to us and the shows have been big. It’s a big stage and a lot of room to run around… So far I’ve only slid off the stage once, causing minor damage to various parts of my body, and twisted an ankle… That’s pretty good for me! The variation of playing with him and also doing our own dates has been perfect for this year… You know I’m always thinking about our next headlining tour… Looking forward to it but I really am enjoying this tour and hope any of you guys that have made it out to a show have too.
Thunderstorms and small aircrafts… Not high on my list of “favorite things.”
Tough choosing the third single… All along, everyone in my camp and at the label has loved “Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes”… Certainly a favorite of mine. Though it may not sound like it (luckily they say good songs shouldn’t), it took awhile to get it right…. And hearing it come alive in the studio was killer. I’m looking forward to adding it to our setlist. But I have a big place in my heart for “Beautiful World” as well… And have plans for that song to reach whatever potential it was made to reach, whether it is through radio or other mediums… Really believe in the message of that song… Throw in Patty Griffin and well… it needs to be heard. At least I think…but I could be biased!
God bless,
d
If you haven’t caught Dierks live yet…do it…You’ll definitely see why only falling off stage once is impressive…he puts 110% into his live shows, and you won’t regret going.
