Kenny Chesney will preview his big Aug. 1 stadium concert with a smaller show the night before.

You can’t buy tickets to the free warm-up show. The audience for the smaller, hourlong July 31 event will be filled by radio-station-ticket giveaways (through 94.1 KMPS FM and The Wolf 100.7 FM), and tickets randomly distributed to people who already hold tickets to the Aug. 1 concert (more details are at the Web site (www.kennychesney.com).

I really like how country music artists are reaching out to their fans and getting creative this year.  It’s giving us the chance to really get up close and personal and in a setting much different than the norm.
