It doesn’t matter that Taylor Swift didn’t win her Moon man last year at the MTV Awards, they have asked her back this year but this time to perform!
“I’m so excited that MTV and the VMAs have invited me to perform, because I think this year’s show will be unlike anything they’ve ever done!” she said of her debut on the VMA stage with an updated version of her new single, “You Belong With Me.”
Taylor says that she will pull out all the stops for this performance.
“I love incorporating theatrics into my performances, and the VMAs have always allowed artists to run with that,” she said. “MTV has been so good to me. And I could not be more excited about this year’s VMAs.”
Notice that the quote above says “updated version” of her song. I am sure since it’s MTV the song will be “popped” up a bit. Only adding to the critics who say Taylor is NOT country.
I am excited to see a country artist represent country music on MTV. I think it’s a great opportunity to open up our genre of music to people who may not otherwise listen. I know this is a touchy subject and not all feel the same way.

She’s a country cross over,not pop like some try to say. She seems like she still knows her roots and that’s what I think matters most. People always get iffy with cross over acts :/
I love Taylor, but the VMA’s don’t really interest me. I’ll watch just to see her performance. I really just wish she would sing a song with no pop sound or “updated version.” Not gonna happen though…
I would not be a huge country music fan if it wasn’t for Taylor. I barely ever listened to country music, then I found her. I started listening to country radio and now I’m a huge fan. So the only reason I buy all these country albums, go to concerts and festivals and all that is because of Taylor. So I’m thankful that she is a COUNTRY ARTIST, otherwise I may not be such a huge fan of the genre. And it’s like that with other people I know also. Anyways, I can’t wait to see her perform! And crossing over isn’t a big deal, it’s actually good for country music, especially for the younger crowd.
I too love Taylor. She is a prodigy in the truest sense. She makes beautiful music. However, I totally agree with Ashlee. I will not be watching the VMAs. It’s a horrible show and I would only watch it if you paid me.
